Bill's Oatmeal Raisin Cookies






1 cup butter, softened

1 tsp baking soda

2/3 cup white sugar

1 tsp salt

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp allspice

2 large eggs

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp cloves

1 1/2 cups white flour

3 cups regular oatmeal

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup raisins

Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl and gradually add the sugars, beating well after each addition.

Add the eggs and vanilla and continue to beat on medium speed of your mixer until the mixture is well blended and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

In a separate bowl combine the flour, spices, baking powder, baking soda and salt, mix well.

Add the flour to the butter-egg mixture and stil wll blended.

Stir in the oatmeal and raisins.

Drop rounded spoonfuls of the dough on to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Leave space btween cookies as they spread while baking.

Bake at 350 for 10-20 minutes Check at 10 minutes and remove from the oven when they are just beginning to brown.

Cool on the baking sheet until they have firmed up.
